Well, you can a. buy the whole BB for £25 or b. go to your LBS to see if they have/can get the cups in stock for X amount.

Here is a link to the howitzer BB:

This means your BB isn't external, so you don't have to worry about buying new cups and the spline's, they come together in a sealed unit. Try this:

Run the Minion on the front, since the front is the end you least want washing out on you, I have a Minion DHF next to my bike but since I run tubeless I need to get my hands on an air compressor before it is fitted. I take it your crank's are ISIS spline? I can't tell from the picture in your albums sorry.

What crankset are you running?

Look at the first option, it is a 26 x 2.35 and in MaxxPro 60a (hard) so it will last.

Go for the 60a compound if you want them to last

If money is of no concern go for a maxxis minion DHF in 3c, that is my favorite and they roll fast too.

I don't tend to notice bigger tires adding drag that much, the tread pattern is the main thing i notice.

dhpete93 wrote

True, I guess its personal preference, I just don't feel as stable on the trail with skinny tires.

dhpete93 wrote
July 12, 2008 at 16:55
Why a 2.1? I run 2.35's because thin tires just don't feel right to me.

It's the that control's your amount of gear's, My friend uses a road derallier with a Shimano alvio 8 speed shifter and it work's pretty crisp. Fro a chain device just look for a cheap deal, Chainreactioncycles.com will normally be good for that.

dhpete93 wrote

Mine never skip, All you need to do is get them set up right and make sure your cassette and front chainring aren't too worn, and a good derallier wouldn't go amiss. If you want really crisp shifting go for a SRAM X.9 but if you want a cheap but strong deal go for a Shimano road mech with a road cassette.

Gears on your hardtail would be awesome man, there is no reason not to use them if you aren't a weight weenie, good luck with them.
